The British multinational corporation JCB is launching a creative competition to re-imagine the JCB Backhoe Loader for the year 2073. Participants must think about the operation of the machine, extra functions, the environment it works in, materials, technologies, energy sources, style and design.
Backhoe loaders are a heavy equipment vehicle that consists of a tractor like unit fitted with a bucket on the front and a hoe on the back. Due to its relatively small size, backhoe loaders are very common in urban engineering and small construction projects. JCB already knows how design the perfect backhoe loader. They were, after all, the first company who developed the concept back in 1953. And today they are the world’s number one backhoe loader manufacturer by quite some way, which means that almost half of all backhoe loaders are JCB ones.
Now it is your turn to design the backhoe loader of the future.
The competition is open to anyone no matter their background, age, nationality or country of residence.
- 1st awarded: £2,000;
- 2nd awarded: £1,000;
- 3rd awarded: £500.
All ten finalists will receive a JCB Lucky Bag.
The deadline for submitting applications is 28 July, 2014.
