The distribution of a total of 100,000 laptops among the talented and shining students enrolled in public sector higher education institutions around the country will be started from June 20. The announcement was made by Chairperson Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and revealed that around 1,000 laptops would be produced in Pakistan.
In his first press conference which was conducted at HEC Secretariat Dr. Mukhtar Chairperson revealed this information. A great number of media persons were present there and asked questions regarding the situation of HEC’s initiatives. The HEC is improving the governance of universities and taken steps to enlarge the educational structure to less developed and remote areas. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that in last 12 years the HEC has focused on the development of PhD faculty. He said that non PhD faculty would be aided for PhD degree from Pakistani universities and they would also be provided one year experience in any international university.
HEC Chairperson also stressed upon the conversion of universities into smart universities and aspirants could get the facility of information technology across the country. at first seven universities, one from each province and one from federal region, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are under schedule for the smart universities.
