Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has started the construction work for the establishment of National Centre of Curriculum Studies and Educational Assessments. After the beginning of this center it will produce chief academic officers in the respective field. In this way the inauguration of work was made by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ali Asghar Chishti at the University’s main campus. The provision of funds is being made by HEC with cost of Rs 250 million.
The purpose of this center is to produce academic professionals for the development of present curriculum for different academic program and fields of studies.
Director of the centre Dr Tanzila Nabeel said that after getting the degree individuals will provide training to teachers and researchers on curriculum development and related work.
In First batch around 60 graduate officers could get training at the centre for an MPhil-level program from next March. The center will provide modern facilities and library for the delivery of books and related material.
Dr Chishti acclaimed that it will be the first ever centre in Pakistan to produce chief academic officers for the expansion of the current curriculum of different academic programs. It is one of major step on current projects of AIOU which would strength the quality education in the country, he said.
