Islamabad, A ‘Qirat Competition’ was arranged at Preston University which was the part of Spring Splash 2013.
Various events were held in the inter-university competitions such as Qirat, Bilingual Debate, Dramatics, Singing, T-20 cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Football contests. A number of universities all over the Pakistan took part in the Qirat competition such as Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Arid-Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Air University, Islamabad, Punjab University, Minhaj-ul-Quran University, Lahore, GC University, Lahore, University of Gujrat, Hamdard University, Islamabad, University of Peshawar, Federal Urdu University, Islamabad, and Preston University, Islamabad, Kohat, and Lahore campuses.
Student of Punjab University, Lahore, Hafiz Asad Sharif got the first place in the Qirat competition. Naqash Saeed of University of Gujrat got second position while Third position went to Yahya Abdur Rahman from University of Peshawar.
Qari of international repute , Qari Syed Muhammad Buzurg Shah Al Azhari was chief guest on and awarded the prizes among the position holders of the Qirat competition.
Chancellor Preston University, Dr. Abdul Basit was also present on the occasion. He congratulated the students over their performance and said that such events should be organized so that students can also take part in co-curricular activities to show their skills in recitation of the Holy Quran.
The chief guest, Qari Syed Muhammad Buzurg Shah Al Azhari and Chancellor Preston University, Dr. Abdul Basit admired the efforts of students and their individual universities on getting top positions in the Qirat competition.
Meanwhile, The Preston University and Valparaiso University (VU) of US state of Indiana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of education to provide higher educational facilities to the people of both countries and a ceremony was organized for this purpose.
Dr. David L. Rowland, Dean of Graduate School, Valparaiso University and Dr. Allah Wadhayo Baloch, Registrar Preston University inked the MoU. Saima Abbasi from Valparaiso University in Pakistan and other faculty members and Preston University’s administration were present on this occasion.
